Summary:
An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible.

Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.
MY REVIEW:
My last thoughts upon finishing - why did I wait so long to read this?!? I LOVED it! This story had so many aspects that I enjoy while reading Contemporary Romance. Particularly themes like motorcycle clubs, bad boys, strong girls, secrets, wrinkle-your-toes-hotness, sadness, happily-ever-after-endings. My only small sad thought was that as young as Oz and Emily are 18 and 17 respectively, that I sure hope there's another story devoted to them, as theirs is just beginning.

The story goes that Emily was raised by her Mom and Dad in Florida. Her Dad adopted her when she was young, since her birth father didn't want her. But as she got older she had questions about her birth father and so he began visiting her once a year. She doesn't really know him though. All she knows is that he is in a motorcycle club and her Mom left the town of Snowflake when she became pregnant with her because her Dad didn't want them. The problem with what Emily knows though, is that she doesn't really know anything at all.

An uplanned trip back to Snowflake forces Emily to see just exactly who her biological father is and who the people are that are her blood family.

And since YA contemporary romance has to have a love story, while there Emily meets Oz, a gorgeous guy who is assigned as her babysitter, protector. Oz has one dream in his life - to become a member of the Reign of Terror motorcycle club and so he wars with his duty to his family and club and his growing feelings for his assignment.

This was definitely one I couldn't put down. I was sad for it to end. When you can't forget a book and it's characters after it ends - THAT is a book hangover. So yeah, book-hangover-worthy! Check it out! And as a side note - there's nearly an entire year wait between books one and two. BOO!

Favorite Quotes:
Yes, he's pretty, but bad things come in gorgeous packages - at least that's what Mom says.

I was wrong - he's not hot. He's evil. Very, very evil.

"The world is a huge place. How will you know where you fit in unless you explore beyond your comfort zone?"

"Our fears are what stifle us and we're only scared of what we don't understand."

  1. I am such a huge fan of Katie McGarry. But I didn't love this one as much as I was hoping. I did really like it though. Have you read any others of hers?

Oh yes! I've also read Pushing the Limits #'s 1-3. I have access to the others but haven't read them yet.

  3. I am so glad you enjoyed this!! I pre-ordered Nowhere But Here when I first heard about it but I just haven't picked it up yet (don't know why since I love all of Katie McGarry's books). I'll have to pick it up over half term. Awesome review!
