First of all - this gorgeous cover is just perfect for the depiction of the main character, Serena!!!
As much as I have loved the Eagle Elite series by Van Dyken, and continue to rave about it, and as much as I really enjoyed the novella to this new series....I have to admit that this first installment told between alternating points of view of Serena and Junior, was a bit too gratuitous for my taste and not enough story development. Don't get me wrong - I still LOVE this world and these characters. I enjoyed seeing glimpses of the original cast of characters, who are now the parents. I enjoyed what little development there was into the new mafia world for the children of the five families. The plot just felt lacking at times and not enough movement to what could lead to more growth in the stories.
I'll still support this series and will eagerly wait to read them when they come out. I do hope though, that I see more depth for the plots.
For now, just know going in to this story that there's a whole lot of detailed sex scenes, some struggles to overcome as the children, now in college, rise up to take over Eagle Elite, and there's definitely love interests and a little bit of war too. I have high hopes for what's to come. Mafia romance still has my attention!
