Summary:
What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

First of all, this cover is just hot!  Love it!!

Wow, what an ending! And by ending I mean the last 250+ pages!!

Oddly enough, I actually saw some similarities between this book and the Twilight series and it reminded me that 'most' Fiction books take inspiration from other books & the similarities one sees will vary depending on the perception of the reader.

Poor Jace and Clary can't catch a break.... I definitely wanted more between them in this book which is one reason for my not giving it 5 stars. I enjoyed the addition of other couples in this book (who will remain nameless so as not to give any spoilerish details) and there were several unpredictable moments that I enjoyed. After all, who wants to read a book where they "know" what's going to happen next?

Overall, I REALLY enjoyed it and can't wait for the next installment in The Mortal Instruments!  I give this book 4.5 stars. (originally added on Goodreads May 2012)
