In My Mailbox is a weekly post hosted by The Story Siren. Book bloggers participate to showcase what books they received in the mail that week.
I'm super excited to participate today! This is my very first In My Mailbox post and I have quite a bit to share with you. Upon starting my blog last week I quickly went to Net Galley and immediately started requesting books. I was pleasantly surprised to start receiving ARC's within a matter of hours. Before the end of the next day I had received 10 and had only been declined by 3. Then I immediately got a little nervous, wondering when on earth I was going to have time to read all of those books AND the books currently sitting on my night stand AND the books currently on my iPad Kindle app, of which many I purchased this week as $.99 deals on Amazon.
Without further ado, I present the books I received this week.

Source: ARC via Net Galley
(Goodreads / Amazon)
Summary:
Can the living coexist with the living dead?
That’s the question that has New Victorian society fiercely divided ever since the mysterious plague known as “The Laz” hit the city of New London and turned thousands into walking corpses. But while some of these zombies are mindless monsters, hungry for human flesh, others can still think, speak, reason, and control their ravenous new appetites.
Just ask Nora Dearly, the young lady of means who was nearly kidnapped by a band of sinister zombies but valiantly rescued by a dashing young man . . . of the dead variety.
Nora and her savior, the young zombie soldier Bram Griswold, fell hopelessly in love. But others feel only fear and loathing for the reanimated dead. Now, as tensions grow between pro- and anti-zombie factions, battle lines are being drawn in the streets. And though Bram is no longer in the New Victorian army, he and his ex-commando zombie comrades are determined to help keep the peace. That means taking a dangerous stand between The Changed, a radical group of sentient zombies fighting for survival, and The Murder, a masked squad of urban guerrillas hellbent on destroying the living dead. But zombies aren’t the only ones in danger: Their living allies are also in The Murder’s crosshairs, and for one vengeful zealot, Nora Dearly is the number one target.
As paranoia, prejudice, and terrorist attacks threaten to plunge the city into full-scale war, Nora’s scientist father and his team continue their desperate race to unlock the secrets of “The Laz” and find a cure. But their efforts may be doomed when a mysterious zombie appears bearing an entirely new strain of the virus—and the nation of New Victoria braces for a new wave of the apocalypse.

From head to foot, the way you view your body is directly connected to how you serve God. Seriously. From the thoughts you think to the steps you take, every part of you is linked to the divine. Perhaps you are struggling with your body image or are trying to make sense of why God made you as you are. Maybe you are looking for new ways to understand Scripture or to love God more fully. Either way, this book will take you on a thoughtful, funny, and spirit-filled exploration of the way you were designed and will help you better honor the Creator by learning to value his perfectly unique creation (yourself!)

Did you make it through the end of that list? Normally I will not receive books every week, and the length of this list will be a rarity as well. However, it was a fun week to get so many. Now to the important part.....reading them. What books did you receive this week?
Wow...you had a great week! I wish you'd told me about Zombie Fallout being at $0.99! I really want to read that one and it's at $2.99 now. I mean not that that is TOO much, but still.
ReplyDeleteI've got Covet as well, and I've already reviewed What I Didn't Say. I've also go Twisted Window. Lois Duncan was a one of my favorite authors in my teen years.
Thanks for stopping by my blog as always!
Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know
I thought I did....I'm sorry. I love those $.99 deals so next time I'll be sure to let you know. ;-)
DeleteI didn't realize Covet was book 2 or that Dearly, Beloved was book 2. I was trying to avoid those and request first in a series books. Oh well....it'll just be in the wing for now waiting like so many others.
Thanks for the comment!
Ooh, The Lost Prince! I'm excited to get started on it. I hope you enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Chey!
DeleteSince you are a fan of The Lost Prince, I do have a question. Have you read her other books and would you recommend first reading her Iron Fey series before this one?
Thanks for commenting!
