Summary:
One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Hmm....I didn't fall as hard in love with this one as I did Divergent. The book was nonstop action and never a dull moment. For that alone I appreciated the book. It didn't take long to get into the story and it definitely kept my attention throughout. You know how for your 5 star ultimate favorite books, that it's an "all or nothing" kind of feeling? At least that's how it is for me when I find those rare 5 star loves. This fell short of that feeling for me. Tris was annoying (thinking that was part of the point though) and looking back over the story line, is part of her growth as a person. Let's face it, she IS only 16, and even though considered an "adult" among the factions, she is still developing her self and figuring out who she is and what she wants. Her constant lack of self preservation was draining for myself as a reader. And man, don't get attached to any characters...Part of war certainly means lives lost.

My overall rating 4 stars. Gotta wait for 2013 for book 3?! Ugh! (Originally added on Goodreads June 2012)
