Summary:
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. 

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. 

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Tall, dark, and extremely handsome hottie who is brooding, arrogant, and sarcastic meets brown headed, average to her eyes but prettier than she thinks, smart, book loving girl. Sound slightly familiar?  Anyone? If that isn't enough of a similarity, perhaps the "let's go for a walk in the woods" moment will be familiar. Obsidian is sort of Twilight (minus the love triangle) meets Roswell. At first I found this mildly annoying. But.....who am I kidding?! I LOVE the Twilight books and I LOVE the Roswell show series (never did read those books but I'm sure they are equally good). Two of my favorites combined to create a new story. Let's face it, all books share similarities with others in some way. It's what inspiration is all about. 

This was a fun, charming, sexy book. I was hooked at the description of Daemon. I mean honestly.....who doesn't love the hottie bad boy persona? I appreciate good sarcasm, and these characters give a healthy dose of it. I loved every page of this book! Didn't want to put it down at all! 5 stars!! I can't wait to read book 0.5 - Shadows!  (Originally added on Goodreads September 2012)
