Summary:
And their doom comes swiftly.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off the from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

This was my first "murder mystery/thriller" type book.  Though not a preferred genre of mine, I wanted to give this YA title a read because of the high ratings and positive reviews by others.  The psychological thriller parts of this book had me looking over my shoulder a bit while reading it.  NOT cool!  I don't really do "scary" and it was bordering on too much, for me personally.  Visions of 2 of my favorite games kept coming to mind.  Mafia (played with a deck of cards): "I'm not the killer, because I hate the color red" (random comment to try to persuade people that you aren't the killer) and the board game Clue: "Professor Plum did it in the Conservatory with the wrench".

I loved trying to guess who the killer was in this story.  Who enjoys reading a book where they can figure out what is going on before the ending?

One down side for me was that the ending seemed to leave you hanging some and I didn't feel like things were fully wrapped up.  I mean come on, 10 teenagers are dead and we don't get to know what happens when the authorities are notified?!

Favorite Quotes:

"So I guess all we really know is that we're innocent.  We've been together almost the whole time."  (key word almost!)

"You know what?...This is how horror movies start."

Since I haven't read any other books like this I can't relate it to any others.  The best I can do is relate it to movies.  If you enjoyed the Scream movies, or I Know What You Did Last Summer or I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, then this would be right up your alley!  3.5 stars.
