Summary:
To want what you’re not supposed to have…

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather's daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.
MY REVIEW:
This book is considered a New Adult genre book.  For those who may not be certain of what that is, it's supposed to be a bridge of sorts between YA and Adult fiction, with the characters ages being twenty-something's.  Make no mistake, this book is VERY adult in mature content, situations and language.  Warning: this book is not suitable for those under the age of 17.

Now that that is out of the way, let's get on to the good stuff.  Suffice it to say, I am a sucker for emotionally damaged hot guys (in a book).  So Rush is totally edible in a million ways!  I had heard high reviews about this book and was expecting an entertaining read for sure but I was pleasantly surprised to see this book has serious depth.  It has a strong emotional punch - so get ready to have your heart ripped out!  I keep my thoughts spoiler free because you need to experience these amazing books first hand - without the opinion of someone else.  The story of Blaire and Rush will leave you raw and hurting.  Blaire is a strong, independent woman who is highly capable of taking care of herself.  Rush is damaged but the guys oozes sexiness from every pore.  He's described as "sexy, gorgeous and delicious but strange", "perfect, wounded, mysterious, confusing". This is definitely not a "knight in shining armor" story.  She doesn't need a knight. "Rush wasn't and never would be anyone's Prince Charming."

There is one scene about 67% of the way through where as if on cue the song The Kiss from the Last of the Mohican's soundtrack came on Pandora and I had a mental chuckle...that was too perfect for reading that scene!

Favorite Quotes:

"Curiosity killed the kitty, sweet Blaire..."

"My life was just one big awkward moment."

"This would be my farewell to a dream.  The one where I was enough for some guy to want."

"I wear cheap red dresses and I have a fond connection to a pair of silver heels...I don't need designer things.  And YOU are designer..."

"It was the only way I was going to keep from falling too far...Rush was dangerous to my heart."

"I can't believe I just begged a female to sit and talk to me."

"You want to know what happened? YOU happened..."

"Because I've had a taste and I'm not sharing.  This isn't just for fun.  I may be slightly addicted."

"But I don't want to push you away."

"I'd never seen this in a movie."

"He was so good at making everything but him fade away."

"The love she left behind will be the reason dreams are reached.  She was the rock in a world that was crumbling.  Her strength will remain.  It's in our hearts."

"I knew where my heart was and I wasn't sure I'd ever see it again."

"Love didn't lie."

"Everyone always said that love was enough.  It wasn't.  Not when your soul was shattered."

There was an additional favorite quote that just broke my heart but I'm going to refrain from adding it to keep this spoiler free.

Wishing I had friends in high places so I could get my hands on book 2 - Never Too Far!  Another must have series and we have to wait till March to read what happens next! Here is me whimpering...

Final Rating - 5 stars!

For your listening pleasure, check out this song by One Direction, called Dreaming.  I heard it on Pandora after finishing the book and immediately thought of Rush and Blaire.  Sigh...
