Summary:
He had held a secret that destroyed her world.

Everything she had known was no longer true.

Blaire couldn’t stop loving him but she knew she could never forgive him.
Now, she was back home and learning to live again. Moving on with life… until something happened to send her world spinning once again.
What do you do when the one person you can never trust again is the one that you need to trust so desperately?

You lie, hide, avoid, and pray that your sins never find you out.
My Review:
Rush and Blaire have developed quite the love affair in a matter of just a few months time and though sometimes we think, oh that's not realistic, the bottom line is, yes it is!  It doesn't take much time at all to develop an intense and all consuming emotional connection with someone when they are perfect for you.  And that's what I see with Rush and Blaire - they are perfect for one another despite the imperfections and the lies that have marred their lives and unfortunately their relationship.

In book 2 Rush is a desperate man trying to make a mends in what seems like an impossible situation, to make Blaire trust him again after keeping such a big lie from her.  "I'll be whatever you allow me to be, Blaire.  Just don't shut me out again.  Please."

Blaire is having to cope with a life changer that is thrown at her, trying to figure out how to take care of herself, while living in the same town of the man she is in love with but doesn't feel she can be with because of knowing that his loyalty to his sister will win out over anyone else every time.  Being second place to anyone is not good enough for her.

Very small annoyance....Blaire, why would you want someone to fight for you knowing you aren't likely to forgive them enough to forget what happened?  "As much as I knew it wouldn't work I wanted him to fight for me. I wanted him to find a way that we could be together even if I knew it was impossible."  Totally not fair...

Supporting characters - Woods - really stepped up in book 2 and we see a side of him we don't fully see in book 1.  He really is a good guy (and side bar - I can't wait to read his story too!)  Jace and Bethy - I love them together and how protective Bethy is over Blaire.  That's what true girlfriends do for each other!

This is very much a story about rebuilding trust in a relationship and doing whatever it takes to hold on to someone you love more than life itself.  "Trust me to protect you and put you first."

Favorite Quotes:

"He was lethal to my emotions and good sense."

"I don't just love her, she owns me.  Completely.  I'd do anything for her."

"Get that crazed possessive gleam out of your eyes and go get her." (Woods)

"No man has ever loved a woman as much as I love you.  Nothing will ever come before you."

"You only deserve what you make yourself worthy of."

I think I finished this in just a few hours time (after all, I am a full time Nanny during the day while my kids are at school and I couldn't ignore Baby Boy to read in less time than I did).  So I have to say, my one reason for not rating it 5 stars as book 1 is because it just simply wasn't long enough.  I felt it rushed through this part of their story.  Perhaps it's because I'm just a crazed fan needing a LARGER fix of Blaire and Rush, but just when it was getting good....it ended.  And I mean yeah, it's a happy ending....but I feel robbed.

Final Rating - 4.8 stars (because I adore Rush and Blaire....and even if the story left me wanting more, and even if I got irritated at Blaire, and even if it felt rushed (pun NOT intended), I still loved EVERY STINKIN' PAGE!)

Up next in the Too Far series:

  1. Thanks for sharing this. I haven't read the first book yet. I should though, to get a taste of this author's writing style.

Usually, the second book is not better than the first and/or the third book but getting that still high rating, then the series might be really good. I'd definitely check out Rush and Blaire's story.
