MY REVIEW:
Book 3 picks up two weeks after the horrible events that occurred where book 2 ended.  Mercy is sitting in a classroom on a Saturday taking the SAT test but not being able to concentrate on the task at hand due to the memories that come flooding back.  All because of a word on the test, a word that she said against Flynn upon the first time meeting him, licentious.  Fans of the series will well remember that Mercy used word of the day apps on her phone in preparation of the SAT tests.  Her goal was to use that word in a sentence each day.  "My first action besides heading to the car was to delete the word of the day apps off my phone." At the beginning of the book we still aren't quite sure what has happened to Flynn, but Luke and Sebastian are gone looking for answers and her best friend Maggie is still waiting to find out her doom. Life for Mercy seems pretty bleak and depressing.

There are still 3 very gorgeous guys who have strong feelings for Mercy.  However, she feels vastly different toward each of them.  Luke is her home, he makes her want to be a better person.  "...this felt very much like home.  And it wasn't the place as much as it was him."  Flynn and Mercy share a common nature of who they are which draws them together, not to mention an incredible attraction.  Sebastian however, being full demon, calls to her darker nature and her darker nature is all too willing to respond.  "Satan's second in command didn't create an ugly boy.  No, he gifted Sebastian with a dollop of sugar, gobs of spice, and all things that made him really nice to look at."

The plot of book 3 still has Luke searching for answers, and Sebastian helping him.  However demon hunters have now become a problem and Mercy and her friends have to face this added complication as well.  As much as I love this series and I really love Luke, Flynn and Sebastian, I have to admit that the back and forth between Luke and Mercy got a bit old throughout this book.  The weird vagueness and non-answers throughout most of the book started to annoy me.  Though at the end there were some answers given, a whole lot more questions arose.

I don't normally criticize grammatical errors in my reviews, but I will mention just briefly that this book seemed to have a lot of them to the point of making me frustrated while reading.  That frustration in no way however played a part in my final rating.

Overall I did enjoy it, despite some annoyances I had which are quite honestly just a personal preference issue.  The ending left me angry....sad....and depressed.  And I'm highly trusting the author, who said to her readers when giving the ARC out to "trust her" and that "everything happens for a reason." Shannon, I'm taking a giant leap of faith here!  Don't let us down!

Favorite Quotes:
"I truly loved him with all my heart.  There was no denial in that.  The other boy, the lost one, had my feelings muddled.  Could one person love two boys?"

"You are my angel, Mercy.  There is no one but you."

"You are beauty personified.  You are unique and rare, there isn't another like you.  You hold me together.  And it is with your love that I exist."

Final Rating - 4 stars

just a word of advice (don't take it the wrong way), can you increase the font size of your blog posts, its a bit too tiny

    Thanks for your comment Aparajita.

I have never had anyone complain about the font size before....but I will take into consideration your advice. I'm definitely not a graphic designer and my blog has been a "learn as I go" kind of thing. I have tried to increase the font size before and didn't notice a difference. But will certainly give it a look again.

    Thanks for stopping by!
