Summary:
The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is out. Worse, he's facing charges for battery. The only way he stands a chance against the charges is if Callie speaks up, something he'll never ask her to do.MY REVIEW:
Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But saving him means admitting her secrets aloud. Callie and Kayden are stronger than they think, especially when they're together. Together they move forward, face their demons, and finally start to heal from their traumatic pasts.
It took me longer to get into this book than I had hoped it would and by the end I was just left with an average feeling over all. I loved The Coincidence #1, rated it 4.5 stars, so I was expectant of another great story.
Spoiler Alert!!! Book 2 picks up just after where book 1 left off, with Kayden in the hospital after he had been stabbed and cut multiple times and Callie had found him lying in a pool of blood in his kitchen. As with the first installment in this series this book is filled with very serious, dark topics and mature content. It's an emotionally charged book and challenges the reader by putting yourself in the position of both Callie and Kayden and the situations they are in. Both Callie and Kayden are trying to overcome something from their past which has caused them to form very unhealthy and unsafe habits because they don't know how to properly heal and deal with their emotions. Thankfully they are able to gain strength from each other and help one another in the process of healing.
I still felt it was missing something....and I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just felt that this book didn't live up to the caliber that book 1 did. My final rating is by no means bad, because this is a good book and you can be sure I will be reading books #3 and #3.5!!

I chose this review to comment on for the Vamps and Zombies because it looks like a little something out of my normal read. Well I am not so sure it would be my cup of tea. Thank you so much for sharing, I certainly understand how hard it is to finish and then leave an opinion on a read that you are just not sure of. You accomplished this very well :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, I'm worried about this book now. I REALLY loved the first and hate when it takes me awhile to get into the sequel. Thanks for your thoughts. Still excited to read it but hope it doesn't disappoint me.
ReplyDeleteOh and I entered the Vamps and Zombies giveaway. Thanks.
