Answer this week's question in your own blog post.

This week's question:
CHANGE THE PLOT. IF YOU COULD, WHAT BOOK WOULD YOU CHANGE THE ENDING OR A PLOT THREAD?

The first book that came to mind was Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. This was a rare time where I enjoyed the movie better than the book because the ending in the book is sad and the movie guru's knew that folks would love a happier ending so they change it. I'm definitely a happy ending kind of girl.

Second to that would be Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I definitely had a disgusted, throw the book across the room feeling well up in me upon reading that ending.

I don't want to write any spoilers about either book but suffice it to say that the guy would always get the girl in my happily ever after world.

What about you? What book would you change the ending to?

  1. Hopping through. Dear John is a popular choice. And I'm in the minority of people who loved the ending to Allegiant.

  2. I have not read Dear John, but I need to -- the only reason I read Nicholas Sparks is for a sad ending. ;)

    New follower, btw. Hi! :)

  3. Jessica @ a GREAT readFebruary 28, 2014 at 2:03 PM

Second time today I'm seeing Dear John. Never read that one. Only Sparks book I ever read was A Walk to Remember during the days when Paranormal books were scarce--aka the Dark Days--and I decided to read that one before the movie.

Seeing a bit of Allegiant today. And while I would've loved that HEA ending as well. I accepted the ending. I wasn't mad that it ended that way. Definitely cried, but I accepted the ending. :)

Yeah I accepted the ending of Allegiant too but certainly didn't love it and would've wished for it to be different.

    Thanks for stopping by Jessica!

I haven't read many of his books but if I feel like crying those are definitely the ones to read!

Loved the ending?! GASP! Haha All I can think of when I see the movie trailer (which looks awesome) is "ugh - just wait till the third one...".

  8. Great picks for this week. I didn't like Allegiant either. I felt like Veronica Roth did it solely for the shock factor. It didn't add anything (for me at least) to the story but a whole lot of angst.

Thanks for stopping by my FF. New GFC follower :)

  10. Hello Holly! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!

I haven't read Dear John, although I do know another blog (forgot who it was) that also wanted to change the ending of Dear John. I think it just means I have to start reading my very first Nicholas Sparks book to see what's the hype around him. Nonetheless, I'm one of those very rare people that actually liked the ending to Allegiant because there was no open endings for us but it did have me questioning about life though.

Great post! New GFC and Bloglovin' follower!

  11. I'm the opposite. I really liked the book because it evoked emotion in me. The movie left me feeling just "meh". And I didn't like the movie ending because I hate when movies totally change up a book ending to suit HEA audiences. But, I get it. great choice!
