Armchair BEA Day 2: Author Interaction

Welcome to Day 2 of Armchair BEA 2014
Today's topic I'm participating in is
Author Interactions.

Who doesn't love getting a retweet, tweet, Twitter follow; FB comment, like or follow; Goodreads comment or like; blog post comment or follow from a favorite author?! Seeing any of those from an author whose books I read and review always make my day! Sometimes the more meaningful comments are the ones non-book related. Richelle Mead and I talked about how to make southern grits on Twitter once. Have you ever had an author that you've communicated with say - "I'm so glad to see your name on the list! I hope you enjoy xx book!" - Those are special moments.

So to conclude I'm going to give a "shout-out" to a few of the authors that have been really great at communicating with me through various social media sites. Some have gone above and beyond and make it personal when chatting. I KNOW they are busy. We all are - but we are anxiously waiting for them to write that next book and to take time away from writing to interact via social media and get to know their readers and followers is a great thing! It's even more admirable when they thank you personally for your review.

Richelle Mead
Shannon Dermott
Liesel Hill
Claire Wallis
Rebecca Ethington
Ruth Silver

Notice I said I would list "a few" because there's no way I can remember over the last nearly 2 years I've been blogging and reviewing books all the authors I have spoken with online. Certain ones stand out to me for various reasons. My thankful sentiment is the same to all of the authors who've taken time to interact with me or to thank me for a review. It's special. It's appreciated. XOXO

  1. Interacting with authors is the COOLEST thing ever! When they reply to our tweets it is like OMG :)

  2. I love getting the chance to talk to authors online. It's so fun and allows me to fangirl just a bit! Great post!

  3. I am too shy to approach authors and I don't add them in my tweets. But maybe I should, they are only human after all!

  4. I agree - it's a bit of a thrill. I have a few authors who I talk with regularly now, and that's really cool. I would have never imagined it, years ago when this all began. It's odd, though, I only interact with them online - I've had many opportunities to meet folks in person, at events, signings, fairs, festivals, readings and whatever, but I never go! Perhaps I like keeping illusions alive. :) I gave some author shout-outs today, too, because why not?

  5. Claire Wallis for sure! And Priscilla Glenn. And Shannon Dermott. I've interacted with all of those for sure. I like your twist to this topic. :)

I bet most of them are just as nice in person as they are IRL. If you have the opportunity to go you totally should - especially since a lot of us don't have authors come anywhere close by. Do it for us! ;) Thanks for stopping by Adam!

Start with your positive reviews and tweet them. You'll be amazed how supportive they are and eager to share positive reviews on their books. Then if you're really brave you can tweet the not so good reviews too. ;) Thanks for stopping by Chrizette!

  12. Good point! It really is impressive when an author takes the time to thank you or comment on your review. And it means a lot to us reviewers!

  13. Just let me know when you would like to borrow it again. Your TBR list in your possession is probably CRAZY considering all your books plus the ones on my kindle too though!
