Summary:
Bryn must decide: follow her head or her heart. Thrown into a world of suspense and intrigue, Bryn now has to fight to clear her name. But she's not alone. With help from the Trylle - including Finn Holmes - she's on a quest to discover the truth.MY REVIEW:
With her life and her world on the line, will Bryn be able to risk it all?
This book is the culmination of the series and as such a BIG battle comes between the troll tribes, all led and manipulated by one villain who had a connection with someone I wasn't expecting. Bryn has been accused of treason and escapes from the Kanin dungeon with the help of Ridley to avoid execution and to give herself time to clear her name. She finds herself allied with Konstantin Black - another of the Kanin's most wanted. Just as she had begun to discover in the previous books, she realizes that all is not as it seems in her Kanin tribe.
All through the book I was more and more confused by Bryn and her connection with Konstantin. Am I the only one that felt their interactions were filled with a heavy dose of sexual tension and flirtation at times? Given her feelings for Ridley this seemed either out of place or not quite explored enough. Konstantin's continued use of the nickname, "White Rabbit", he has given Bryn, along with the way he would look at her, led me to believe his feelings toward Bryn were more than just friendship. And if I'm being honest, I was disappointed that their connection wasn't explored more. It was actually more interesting to me than her connection with Ridley.
I found the language in this last book to be much more mature than the other 2 books. I started highlighting words and there were (what I would consider to be) a lot of F bombs (for a YA book series).
This book had me tear up, and any book that is able to pull at my heart strings gets bumped up in rating. It was a satisfying end to the series for me.
