Each week bloggers participate to share what books they received. 8 day streak with no purchases.  Not the longest I've gone without buying a book, but definitely a good thing none-the-less. So let me live vicariously through ya'll today.  What books did you buy, borrow, win, etc...this past week? Sunday Post is a weekly post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer . Each week bloggers participate to share book news from their week and what's to come in the week ahead. This past week we were on vacation in Tampa so my posts were minimal from what I had originally planned to do. Also yesterday we celebrated my son's 11th birthday!  His party was held at the TaeKwonDo school my kids attend with 19 kids being in attendance.  All wore matching TKD shirts - thanks to the awesome invention of "iron-on transfers".  Mr. Jones (aka their TKD instructor) did a great job - as he a...

Feature & Follow {21}

Image
Feature & Follow is a weekly post hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. "Increase blog followers, gain book blog followers, and make new friends with the Feature and Follow blog hop." To view the blog hop rules go here . Q. Tell us about the most emotional scene you've ever read in a book - and how did you react? I'm a fairly emotional person and it doesn't take much for me to cry or tear up.  Sympathetic crying - you bet!  Many books have been able to draw out tears from me.  Any time a book can bring out deeper emotions within me it almost always gets 5 stars.  However there was one last year that literally had me snot-nosed crying through nearly the entire book - Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover.  I can't pick one scene because the whole book is such an emotional roller coaster and I wouldn't want to ruin anything for those who haven't read it yet.  Go here to see my review. What about you?  Do you cry easily in boo...

Feature & Follow is a weekly post hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read . "Increase blog followers, gain book blog followers, and make new friends with the Feature and Follow blog hop." To view the blog hop rules go here . Q. What is your guilty pleasure as far as reading?  It is a genre, or is it a certain type of book? I'm a sucker for a good love story and lately Young Adult or New Adult contemporary romance books have become a huge favorite of mine!  Give me the angst, intensity, passion and sexiness!  I'm not talking about graphic content necessarily either.  The emotionally charged romance books (think of books like: The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden, Beautiful Disaster, Hopeless, Slammed and Point of Retreat, The Sea of Tranquility, Pushing the Limits, Fallen Too Far and Never Too Far, Rule...need I go on?) I still love my paranormal reads, don't get me wrong!  And the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout and the Cambion se...

Waiting on Touching Fire

Image
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Breaking the Spine . Each week bloggers participate to share what book they are anticipating the arrival of. I have just started reading Touching Smoke (Touch #1) by Airicka Phoenix and have been pleasantly surprised by the enjoyment I've gotten out of it so far.  More on why in my review next week.   Not being very far into the book, it may be a bit premature to list it's sequel as my Waiting On pick this week, but when a book catches your attention early on it's usually unlikely that it'll go down hill from there.  Time will tell though... Touching Fire (Touch #2) by Airicka Phoenix No cover yet. Expected Publication date: July 31, 2013 Summary: “Kiss me!” It wasn’t a request. I felt the shift of his weight as he pushed me harder into the tree. He raised one arm and planted his forearm just over my head as he leaned in close. I held my breath, but it came out in a torn gasp as he whispered a ...

Top Ten Books I HAD to Buy...but have yet to read.

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post hosted by The Broke and The Bookish . This week's topic is TOO perfect for me!   Top Ten Books I HAD to Buy...But Are Still Sitting on My Shelf Unread. Yes....it's been said many, many times (by myself) that I acknowledge I have an issue buying books, especially $.99 Kindle books.  However, I had been 14 days without buying one - so progress was being made...but I broke that progress yesterday with the pre-order purchase of a book I had planned to get upon it's release - The Clockwork Princess.  With that said....on to the list. The below books are all print: 1. A Feast For Crows by George R.R. Martin After finishing book 3 I made sure I had book 4 but the reality is these books take me about a month to read because of their length and depth and I'm not far ahead enough in reviews to take one month to read one book. 2. Bloody Valentine and 3. Lost in Time by Melissa De La Cruz Though I didn't personally buy ...

Feature & Follow is a weekly post hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read . "Increase blog followers, gain book blog followers and make new friends with the Feature and Follow blog hop." To view the blog hop rules go here . Activity!  Hopefully warm weather for most of us is here soon...so tell us about your favorite outdoor reading spot or take a picture. One of the things I LOVE about living in the south is the 3 hour drive to just about any destination that appeals to me.  Big city shopping - larger than where I am, 3 hours or less north or east.  Beach, 3 hours south.  Aside from really disliking the city I live in, it's a very convenient location.  My absolutely favorite summer time location to read is the beach, specifically Florida beaches on the Gulf.  Nothing compares to it!  I can literally lay on the beach all day (partially covered by an umbrella otherwise I'd turn into a lobster) and read.  It has to be the mos...
