From Books to Movies, Take 10

Take 10: Throne of Glass It's been nearly an entire year since I've had a post in my From Books to Movies feature. There's been plenty of book to movie adaptations I could've talked about but I haven't really felt them. No real inspiration on something I wanted to talk about. I have watched some book to movie/show adaptations (Shadowhunters being the most frequent coming to mind) but haven't really felt the desire or pull to review them.  Until now.   A couple weeks ago I was doing some research to see how many books were in a particular series that I have on my 2017 Series Enders Reading Challenge goal. My research led me to the author's website where I discovered, right at the top of her page, the exciting news which I will share below for anyone else living under a smallish rock and hasn't heard. The book series: Throne of Glass The author: Sarah J. Maas The exciting news straight from Maas' website: The news article: Dea...

*ARC* Wait For Me - Review

Image
Wait For Me By: Caroline Leech Published: January 31, 2017 by HarperTeen 384 pages Source: Edelweiss ARC from publisher ( Goodreads / Amazon ) Summary: Set on a Scottish farm in the spring of 1945, Wait for Me begins as Paul, a severely burned German prisoner-of-war, is sent to the farm to work. Lorna, the farmer’s teenage daughter, soon discovers that in wartime, your family and your allies might not actually be your friends, and your enemy might turn out to be the love of your life. Lorna’s friendship with Paul, and their developing love for each other, is challenged by Lorna’s own prejudices and by the intolerance of her soldier brother and her friends in the village. Ultimately, the events which bring peace to Europe will tear Lorna and Paul apart. What will Lorna have to give up in order to find Paul again? MY REVIEW: I wasn't sure how I would enjoy historical fiction as I've not read a whole lot in this genre...but since it was YA, and it was also rom...

I met my walking step goal and exceeded it 3 of the 5 work days. I got another book finished. January will likely take the "most books read in a month" title for 2017. My oldest participated in his first MUN (Model United Nations) event and was awarded third place in his committee out of 80 kids. The weekend then brought a birthday dinner celebration at a local Cajun restaurant for my brother-n-law, and then a (mostly) relaxing Saturday. 2017 SERIES ENDERS READING CHALLENGE SIGN UP: You can now join us for our 4th annual Series Enders Reading Challenge f...

It was beautiful Spring weather, with highs right at 80 for a couple days this week and mid 70's the rest. Even for central Alabama, this is very unusual warm temps for January. But I'll take it! Bring on the flip flops!  Unfortunately our dryer is basically unusable now, so for all intents and purposes it "went out" on Thursday. Due to the age of the washer and dryer, and issues I was having with both, we had to shop for and purchase a new set. Let me tell you - in a fam...
