Top 10 - Favorite Heroines that Kick Butt

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish .   This week's topic is Top Ten Favorite Heroines that Kick Butt . I honestly thought this would be an easy topic but as I sat down to make my list I realized that my list of heroines is fairly short as most of the books I read have a male lead hero.  Hmm....what exactly does that say about my book choices? In no particular order of favoritism: 1. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games series.  Hands down, the moment she chooses to sacrifice herself to the games to save her sister earns her a place in my list.  Not to mention she is a self taught archer who is fully capable of feeding not only herself but her family and surviving the games. 2. Rose Hathaway from The Vampire Academy series.  I'd want her on my team should I need to fight off Strigoi. 3. Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments series.  Thrust into a world she never knew existed she quic...

In My Mailbox 4 & Sunday Post 3

Image
In My Mailbox is a weekly post hosted by The Story Siren .  Bloggers participate each week to share what books they won, bought, borrowed, etc... I had a busy week in the way of books.  I won another contest - whoop!, got accepted for another Netgalley book and purchased quite a few Kindle books on Amazon deals.  As if I need any more books right now seeing as how my current list of what I have to read is quite lengthy.  I find that gathering books has become a bit addictive... ~WON~ I tend to sign up for giveaway's without really reading much about the book because I'm just determined to win as many as I can.  (Competitive spirit?  Nah...)  See my name the 4th from the bottom?  Turns out the book I won is the 2nd in a series, a series that I don't have.  But never-the-less, I WON!  Thanks to Nomis Paranormal Palace ! ~NETGALLEY~ ~PURCHASED~ From left to right the titles I purchased via A...

Top 10 - Books To Get In The Halloween Spirit

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish .  This week's topic is Top Ten Books To Get in the Halloween Spirit . I love this topic because most of the books I read could fit into this category.  However I'm going to list some books I haven't personally read because they are so fitting. 1. Salem's Lot by Stephen King - I have seen the movie multiple times too many and I still can't keep my eyes open all the way through.  My Dad read this book while out at sea during his time in the Navy in the early to mid 70's and he said it was one of the scariest books he has ever read. 2. The Boogeyman by Stephen King - this is a short story which is actually featured in King's Night Shift book.  My Dad read this when my brother and I were babies but hearing him tell the story he says that he got so scared he couldn't even shower by himself and for a while my Mom had to sit in there with him.  He would've been mid 20...
