Beg for Mercy - Review

Image
Beg for Mercy (Cambion #1) By: Shannon Dermott Published: August 7, 2011 by Wicked Truth Publishing 473 pages Source: Personal Kindle library ( Goodreads / Amazon ) Summary: Everyone dreams of that first kiss. Of that magic moment when your lips finally meet those of that special person you’ve waited your whole life for. A little awkward, a little scary, a little hot and every bit amazing. We speculate that the whole world will shake and time will just stop. No one, however, ever imagines that kiss to bring Death himself knocking.  Sixteen year old Mercy Moore's life just got more complicated. The kiss that originally could have meant she would finally have a boyfriend now was the kiss that could have very nearly ended his life. A small detail her mother conveniently never told her will take her life for an abrupt u-turn. Dating, no love, was now completely and utterly impossible. And the boy well, that boy would never be the same. But life, however cruel, goes on. ...

Goodbye to 2012, Hello to 2013!

This should be a rather short post, seeing as how I didn't start my blog until October of this year.  Looking back over these last 3 months of my blog, I thought I'd share some stats with you: My blog went live on Monday, October 1, 2012 There have been 88 posts as of December 30th. There have been 4,951 page views in my blogs history and 740 published comments. My all time top 3 viewed posts are: December New Release Giveaway , Best of 2012 Giveaway , and In My Mailbox 2 & Sunday Post 1 . 319 GFC followers. I've had visitors from 10 different countries. These stats are exciting to me!  Mostly because when I first began, I was anxious to reach even 10 followers.  I had no idea how fast the followers would come and how great of a community book blogging is. Of the 88 posts, about 42 of those are book reviews.  The rest are the fabulous meme's I participate in, and without those my blog would certainly not be where it is today. Lessons learned: ...

Feature & Follow {8}

Image
Feature & Follow is a weekly post hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . "Increase blog followers, gain book blog followers, and make new friends with the book blogger Feature & Follow." This week's question is: Q. What book do you think everyone should read, if you could gift the entire population with one book? I know you were probably hoping I'd pick some fantastic fictional book, of which there are many out there that I have loved and would highly recommend to people.  But generally I would only recommend them to those who enjoy that genre of book.  For instance I'm not going to recommend a vampire book to someone who hates paranormal reads.  They just wouldn't enjoy it.  The one and ONLY book that I would recommend to everyone and anyone is, hands down, the Bible .   I'm sure there are those of you out there stopping by today who may not believe in the Bible or believe in GOD, and I'm not posting this...

Top 10 Favorite Book Blogs

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish . This week's topic is freebie and even though I'm a day late in posting, I decided I'd sit down and participate. Usually the freebie week's are fun to figure out which topic to do but right now my brain is too scattered to find one.  So...I'm doing what book bloggers do best, I'm using another bloggers idea for my Top Ten this week. 1. Somewhere Only We Know - This is my sister-n-law's blog and its her idea I am using for my post today.  But that's not why I am listing her first, well not completely why.  She is the reason I started my blog after blogging herself for about a year.  She and I share the same taste in books and we typically rate our books about the same.  She is an amazing person, an insightful blogger and a great friend.  So she takes spot #1. 2. The Story Siren - The first couple of months on my blog I closely followed several "big bloggers" t...

Merry Christmas!

Unfortunately I was unable to post for several meme's this week that I fully intended to participate in.  Waiting on Wednesday and Sunday Post came and went without me.  I read very little this week and well, life happened and the festivities have just taken precedence and time over reading and blogging. For all my fellow bloggers, followers and friends, I will be posting another giveaway to begin officially December 27th, the Best of 2012 Giveaway.  Be sure to come back for a chance to win in that one as well as the current giveaway featured on my blog, December New Release Giveaway. Not sure if I will get around to posting this week or not...so if not, I wish you all a safe and joy filled Merry Christmas! God bless.

Feature & Follow {7}

Feature & Follow is a weekly post hosted by Parajunkee's View & Alison Can Read . "Increase blog followers, gain book blog followers, and make new friends with the book blogger Feature & Follow" This week's question is: Q. What have you learned from book blogging that you didn't know before about the publishing industry? Probably the most fun thing I have learned about are ARC's.  In fact it's sort of the whole reason I wanted to be a book blogger.  I had first learned about ARC's from my sister-n-law and I thought that was so cool that publishers and authors alike would send books to readers to review before they release to the public.  I've only been blogging since October so I am still very new to this process and all things related to book blogging.  I see some blogs and am blown away by the amount of detail and content.  One day when my blog grows up....it'll look like those too.  I learn so much from all of...

Top 10 - Books I Read in 2012

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post hosted by The Broke and the Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Books I Read in 2012 . Out of the 45 books I've read this year (which isn't near as many as a lot of bloggers out there have read), I have had quite a few favorites.  Some even made it into the category of "the BEST BOOK I've ever read". In order of earliest read to most recent read in 2012: 1. As Sure as the Dawn by Francine Rivers (this is the 3rd book in her Mark of the Lion series.  All 3 books are fabulous, emotional and faith building!) 2. Divergent by Veronica Roth (Outstanding and creative world created in these books!) 3. Insurgent by Veronica Roth 4. A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin (Martin doesn't disappoint with an incredible setting and equally incredible characters.  This book had it all and had some serious gut wrenching scenes!) 5. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout (hands down my favorite "supernatural...

Feature & Follow {6}

Image
Feature & Follow is a weekly post hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read . "Increase blog followers, gain book blog followers, and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow." This week's question is: Q. What is the last book that made you cry?  Tell us about the scene. The last book that made me cry was Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover.  I'm talking big, snotty nose crying too, not just your occasional sniffle or eye watering.  Oh man, you want a story to grip your heart, the Slammed series will most definitely do that!!  One scene?  No way, try nearly the entire book!  I just can't pick one scene and honestly choosing one scene that I blubbered over would give too much away from what happens.  Seriously, check out this series NOW!  Interested in my review go here for book 1 and here for book 2 . Share yours with me!  Leave me a comment and don't forget to follow via GFC (preferred) or...

Touch (A Denazen Novel) By:  Jus Accardo Published: October 9, 2011 by Entangled 251 pages Source: Personal Kindle Library ( Goodreads / Amazon ) Summary: When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home. Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized. Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rog...

Waiting on Angel of Mercy

Image
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Breaking the Spine . I came across my pick for this week while researching December 2012 releases for my giveaway (which starts December 15th by the way).  There isn't much information on Goodreads other than a publication date of December 31, 2012 and Amazon has no info on it, so I am skeptical on the release date.  Anyhow, the series intrigues me. What are you waiting on this week?  Let me know!

Top 10 - Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read in 2012

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish . This week's topic is Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read in 2012 . I have read so far 43 books this year - which isn't a massive amount but my goal was 40 so I'm pleased.  Next year it gives me a goal to beat.  Out of those 43 new books (some of which I read twice) I do have quite a few favorite new-to-me authors.  It's safe to say that the first 4 listed I loved so much that I would read ANYTHING they write! Jennifer L. Armentrout - author of Lux series, Covenant series and other individual books) Katie McGarry - author of Pushing the Limits Colleen Hoover - author of Slammed series and Hopeless Veronica Rossi - author of Under the Never Sky series Alyxandra Harvey - author of The Drake Chronicles Mark Tufo - author of the Zombie Fallout series - dude knows his zombie horror! A.R. Wise - author of the Deadlocked series - again another crazy good zombie hor...

Opal - Review

Image
Opal  (A Lux novel #3) By: Jennifer L. Armentrout Published: December 11, 2012 by Entangled Publishing 452 pages Source: Personal Kindle Library ( Goodreads / Amazon ) Summary: No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love. After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won...
