It is with a mixture of feelings that I share with you that my sweet Papa (who was my last living grandparent) went Home to be with Jesus yesterday morning (10/12/13) at the age of 79, after battling a lung disease called IPF for several years. As we travel to be with family for the funeral my heart is full of both sadness for my loss here in this life, to great happiness and joy over seeing him again one day in Heaven - the promise of all of those who are covered by the blood of Jesus!  The death of anyone should cause us to stop, take time for self reflection and consider what's really important in life.

In the words of Solomon from Ecclesiates 7:1-3:
A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume.  And the day you die is better than the day you are born.  Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties.  After all, everyone dies, so the living should take this to heart.  Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us.

My cousin wrote this yesterday and so I leave you with these thoughts:
His iPhone was on the counter, his SUV in the garage, the flat screens still all on the walls, the china in the cabinets, the lawn is perfectly manicured, and all the furniture still in its place. Everything is perfectly put together, except he is no longer here to enjoy it. I will miss my papa so much, but I'm thankful his suffering has ended.

...left great legacies....leave holes in our families that cannot be filled by anyone else.

There is a lesson here:
Don't waste your life. You can't take any of the things you are working for with you. You can't protect your pride from the indignities of death. You can't take any of your friends or family with you. Love God and seek hard after him. Prepare your heart to meet him and enjoy him forever. Invest in the people around you. Nothing else matters.

You know, I did not even think about that! My brain isn't exactly 100% right now. I went over to Amazon to see if I bought anything this past week and there it was so I added it. Oh well.

    Thanks for stopping by! :)

My grandparents on my Dad's side were the only ones I knew growing up so they were extra special to me. He will be missed for sure until we meet again. Thanks for the kind thoughts Jenea!
