The Blood Scion - Review

Image
The Blood Scion (The Scion Legacy #1) By: Nazarea Andrews Published: November 21, 2015 by A&A Literary 186 pages Source: Personal Kindle library ( Goodreads / Amazon ) Summary: I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans. I knew the rules, and I followed them.  I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play.  And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us.  The Houses. And their Scions.  Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death.  And somehow, I am one of them. MY REVIEW: There are 12 vampire houses which are the 12 vampire lines, each house with a patriarch and then...

The Scionless House - Novella Review

Image
The Scionless House (The Scion Legacy 0.5) By: Nazarea Andrews Published: October 30, 2015 by A&A Literary 62 pages Source: Personal Kindle library ( Goodreads / Amazon ) Summary: Twelve Houses. Twelve vampire lines. We ruled from the shadows, and manipulated the world, and when humans came too close to destruction, we intervened.  Every House has a Scion. A fragile, easily broken human that stood shoulder to shoulder with the house Princes and Princesses.  Except for ours. The Ravens, House Cantelie.  We've been without a Scion for almost fifteen years.  But that will change...and her life will be mine to protect. MY REVIEW: For a freebie novella, which was recommended to read before reading book one in the series, this short 62 pages was enough to wet my appetite in the vampire genre again. As the Goodreads summary says, there are 12 vampire houses which are the 12 vampire lines, each house with a patriarch and then a hierarchy of...

Hyde - Review

Image
Hyde #1 By: Lauren Stewart Published: July 8, 2012 by Off The Hook Publishing 377 pages Source: Personal Kindle Library ( Goodreads / Amazon   FREEBIE,  at time of posting) Summary: This novel is intended for adults only. HYDE was inspired by Stevenson's novella but is not a retelling, in part because he and this author have very different definitions of 'bad boy'. Honesty is impossible when you don't know the truth to begin with. Mitchell Turner is everything women want most in a man--he's charismatic, successful, and undeniably gorgeous. But he's not a man--he's a monster. By venting his rage 24/7, Mitch keeps people out of the danger zone that surrounds him. But, after the most incredible night of his life, he realizes that might not be possible. Except the woman he wakes up with claims she doesn't remember any of it. And that kind of thing can make a guy insecure. Eden Colfax is kind, loyal, honest to a fault, and cavity-induc...

Never Never - Review

Image
Never Never By: Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher Published: January 7, 2015 by Hoover Ink 140 pages Source: Personal Kindle Library ( Goodreads / Amazon ) Summary: Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.  Complete strangers since this morning.  He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget.  MY REVIEW: Unique plot! I enjoyed this story. My only complaint - it was too short. Just when it was getting good and we were finally seeing a teeny tiny glimpse into what's going on - BAM. It ends. Boo! I sort of half expected this given the fact that it's only 140 pages but was definitely hoping we got farther along in the story than we did. Pretty much we only see 48 hours of their life. Not all THAT much can happen in 48 hours. So the story is about 2 teens: 18 year old Silas and 17/18 year old Charlie (I can't remember her exact age).  The story alternates chapters between their POV's. They find them...
